Morning Announcements – last day ’til 2012!

16 Dec

Happy Holidays Cambridge!

Enjoy your last day of school in 2011!

Did you know that you can say “Happy Holidays” in 18 different languages?

If anyone can name at least 3 ways of saying any holiday greeting, drop off your answers at the office (with your name and division on the paper) in the present box.  The winners names will be drawn after lunch and then you can pick up your prize.

To all Cambridge students – we wish to thank you for all of your lost and found donations to the clothing drive.  We collected 4 recycling bags full of your clothes to give to people in our city in need.

Parents – here’s what else you’ll want to know -

Huge thanks to Mr. Stemler’s Grade 7 class and our Jr. Achievement leader, Shannon, for their hard work at the Santa store yesterday.  The students loved the experience.  And huge thanks to the Vancouver Sun who generously donated the 40th Anniversary Canucks books to the sale so profits would go directly to our Grade 7′s!  Outstanding!   There’s still a few books available for purchase at the office for $10.

Huge thanks to all our parents out there who help make our school a fantastic place for our students and our staff!   Thanks for encouraging your kids to get involved.  Thanks for driving on field trips.  Thanks for helping in the classroom.  Thanks for volunteering your time (or funds when time isn’t an option).  Thanks for supporting everything our students take on and all the projects the PAC takes on as well.  Thanks for sharing your feedback and your concerns.  Thanks for bragging about how great our school is when someone talks about all those portables.

And if you’re reading this email as a subscriber, give yourself a huge pat on the back!   You take time out of your day to read what’s happening at school.  I’m sure you’ve memorized who the lunch monitors are on any given day and you probably smile when the students have added a “quote of the day” – just adds that little bit of magic to know that they’re taking the time to inspire eachother.

The students are more connected because we are more connected.

Thanks for listening.  See you next year!

Here’s another special announcement:

Cambridge really does care for our community!

Hi, my name is Declan and I got to help delivery all the toys, food items and clothing that was donated.  There was so much donated that it was amazing. We went to 2 inner city Surrey schools to deliver the items.  The principal and secretaries at the schools told us about how many kids needed our help and how many would have a better Christmas because of our school’s help.

Way to go, Cambridge!  We showed our caring spirit!  Merry Christmas!

Library monitors today are Jenna, Janelle and Mya at 11:20 and Jaden at 1:10.

Parents – here’s what else you’ll want to know -

HELP NEEDED AFTER SCHOOL TODAY – All the lost and found items need to be put into bags so they can be donated.   It will only take a few minutes and it must get done so the janitors can polish the floors tomorrow.   If you can’t help after school, pop inside BEFORE pick up instead and help bag up some items!!!    Please email cambridgepacyac@shaw.ca if you can help so we can give the secretaries the heads up.

Bye Cambridge and have an awesome day!

Morning Announcements – Grinch in the house!

13 Dec

Good Morning Cambridge!

We have some news for you…

On Friday, the janitor saw “The Grinch” walking the hallways into Mrs. Earle’s classroom.  Mrs. Earle was so sad when she saw her book ripped and her decorations down.

Also, did you hear those crazy girls with the accents talking on the P.A. on Friday?  Well here’s an announcement from 2 of their sisters…

Oh how I love formal day!  I get to wear my dress and heels!

Oh but what do the boys wear…hmmmm maybe a little Michael Jackson or even Elvis.  It would be lovely to see a boy look like that!

Why thank you girls!

Attention all Grade 5′s and 6′s – Join Mrs. Lourenco in the music portable for some Christmas carolling.

2 more days left to look for your lost coat, mittens or shoes in the lost and found.  Please check the primary hallway.

Here’s another announcement from Division 1:

Attention Kindergarten to Grade 5 – Santa’s bringing Comet to Cambridge for you!  Get your picture taken with Santa for $2.  Buy your candy cane reindeer for $1.  And visit Santa’s garage sale.  Talk to your parents about it!  Stay tuned for more on Wednesday!

Library monitors for today are Ava & Sierra at 11:20 and Gagan at 2:25.

Parents – here’s what else you’ll want to know -

Spirit Day tomorrow – theme is Formal Day!   There’s a lot of talk of fancy dresses, heels, make up, walking the red carpet and photos with paparazzi.  We’re trying to sleuth out a few more details for parents.  We’ll post when we’ve got more info.

SNOW in the forecast for Wednesday – keep in mind that when it snows the parking lot is a zoo.  Please please please consider WALKING or parking a ways away and WALKING the rest!    If you must drive – go SLOW and keep your eyes peeled for kids on the street since sidewalks could be too snowy.

DRESS FOR SNOW – Please make sure your kids are well equipped for the weather – hats, scarves, jackets, mittens, extra pair of socks, etc.  Tomorrow could be tough cause ski-jackets don’t go with formal.  Just remind them…”warm” goes with everything!

SCHOOL & WEATHER INFO – certain radio stations will have updates and you’ll find info on the school website as well (including the list of radio stations).

Thanks Cambridge!  Have a great day!
