Morning Announcements – A Movember to Remember!

30 Nov

Good Morning Cambridge!

Please take a moment to listen to our morning announcements.

Happy Moustache Day!

Did you know that we are wearing moustaches today to support Mr. Winton and all the male teachers that grew mustaches to go towards prostate cancer!

Just a reminder the SPCA needs our help.  Please bring in any old towels, blankets or sheets.  You can bring them to Ms. Burwash’s portable to to the SPCA.  The dogs are shivering even with the heat on!  So let’s help our puppies!

Parents – here’s what else you’ll want to know -

WOW!  Cambridge families rock!   Thanks for all the help and support in pulling off our surprise spirit day today in honour of Movember – an annual event each November to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.  It was great to see everyone sporting their own style of ‘stache!

Huge thanks to Tammy, our amazing resident face painter, for being our  ”Barber”!   The kids were thrilled to get a custom ‘stache…and gotee!  Even had a request for a unibrow!

Huge thanks to Janice, our amazing resident photographer, who captured the morning in nothing short of 245 photos!   You’ll see them in the year end slide show!  (no “people” pics on our parent site)

Tammy & Janice went classroom to classroom with me this morning to collect any extra coins, paint any extra moustaches and to snap a few photos along the way.

So…how much were we able to raise for Movember with our morning coin drive?

$479.91!

OUTSTANDING!

The money will be donated to the “There Once Mo” team lead by our very own Mr. Haveliwalla.   Check out their team website:

BARRY MACDONALD – Huge thanks to all the parents that attended last night’s Boy Smarts session.  71 parents in all from 5 different schools  (45 from Cambridge).  It was a jam packed info session.

Make it a great moustache day!

Morning Announcements – Go Lions!

28 Nov

Good morning Cambridge!

Please stand for O Canada.

Did you see the BC Lions game yesterday?  Congrats Lions for winning the Grey Cup!

A group of Grade 7 boys will be running a game of basketball at lunch today at the basketball court.  Grade 6 boys are invited to attend, and need to be at the basketball court by 12:15.

Just a reminder Cambridge the SPCA needs our help.  Please bring in any old towels, blankets or sheets.  You can bring them to Mrs. Burwash’s portable or to the SPCA.  The dogs are shivering even with the heat on so let’s help our furry friends.

Parents – a few more things to note -

The Grade 7 student led games are very popular.  Unfortunately, it seems that sometimes the students miss the morning announcement and thus miss out on the invitation and game that day.   So…the secretaries will be doing a short reminder announcement just before noon as well!   Thank you Lisa for giving the PAC the heads up and thank you Mr. Stemler for the great solution!

Thank you to Super Volunteers Jennifer and Kristan for their help collecting the last of our Giants ticket orders from the classrooms this morning.

Shhhhhh…we’re planning a surprise!  A notice will go home with the students today (or possibly tomorrow) with the details.  Curious and can’t wait til the notice comes home…drop an email to cambridgepacyac@shaw.ca and we’ll fill you in!!!

Make it a great day, Cambridge!

Morning Announcements – One month away!

25 Nov

Good morning Cambridge!

Did you know there’s exactly one month til Christmas?

Students, today is your last day to bring your READ TO SUCCEED passports and your TICKET ORDERS for the Vancouver Giants Hockey Game on December 9th at 7 pm.  See you at the Teddy Bear Toss!

Please have your Giants ticket order forms ready for pick up.  Someone will be around to your classroom to get them.

If you have any old blankets and towels you can bring them to the Surrey SPCA or to Mrs. Burwash’s portable (the portable behind Mr. Mandin’s).  Dogs are in need of those blankets so bring them in if you can.

There are no library monitors today.

Parents – here’s what else you’ll want to know -

Huge thanks to Super Volunteers Rita & Sergio for their help collecting ticket orders from the classrooms this morning.

And yes, it does seem odd that we’ve got volunteers lined up to collect ticket orders on Monday and Tuesday yet clearly…it’s the LAST DAY to submit?  Hmmm leave it with me.  Jennifer & Kristan – I have another task that I could use you for if you’re free on Monday anyways.

It’s the last Friday of the month…what does that mean?   Time for another Subscriber Rewards draw!   Watch your email.  If you’re the lucky winner you’ll receive a congratulations email requesting your mailing address and permission to post your name on the blog.

What’s on in our community this weekend?  Santa Comes to Sullivan!

and 99th GREY CUP comes to Vancouver!!!  GO LIONS!   Brush up on your referee signals so you can impress your friends on game day:
