Our first winner!

Congratulations to our first Subscriber Rewards winner, Lea!

Morning Announcements – Celebrate, Hop and Stomp

The Ghoul Hop & Monster Stomp is coming Oct. 28th

This is a family Halloween Costume Party and Dance held in the Cambridge Gym from 6-9 pm.

Show your Cambridge pride!  You won’t want to miss this FREE community event.

Pull out those costumes and get your moms, dads, your brothers and sisters, grandmas and grandpas all dolled up!  Learn the Monster Mash and the Time Warp.

There will be door prizes.

We look forward to seeing everyone there!

PARENTS : Please help me in sending a huge THANKS out to the Tolksdorff Family who generously donate their time, decorations, creativity and funds to make this amazing annual event happen!   OUTSTANDING!

Students are bringing home a notice about the Party today.  Simply complete the bottom of the form (1 per family) and send it back to the school so we can keep track of attendance numbers and ensure we’re ready!

As you can imagine, there’s a lot of volunteer effort that comes together to make the evening a success.  We encourage you to get involved!   Check the Help Wanted page for more info!

Morning Announcements – Time Running Out…

Still have an Entertainment book or a payment envelope at home?

Seems “final” is not quite as final as I hoped!  As per the info sheet that’s in with the books, payments and un-sold books are due Thursday, Sept. 29th!!!  So yep…we’ll be out front collecting again Thursday morning!  Believe me…we want this to end as badly as you do!

Kids all runned out? 

If your child(ren) signed up for Cross Country and have decided NOT to participate. please let Miss Sveinson know.

Kids running into things?

3 more days to get them a pair of glasses FREE!  Superstore is offering free eyeglasses to kids 4 to 10 years of age until Sept. 30th.  Yes, there’s fine print.  Check out these flyers for more info:

Morning Announcements – Cross Country

“Cross Country meeting at 12:15 in the gym for all students going to Crescent Park today.  If you are not able to go to Crescent Park today, please let Miss Sveinson know! “

PARENTS – we’ll need parent drivers.  Meet in the multi-purpose room or gym at 2:30 if you can drive any additional students to the park.    Just look for Miss Sveinson!

Not a runner?  Be part of our adoring fans cheering section instead!  Everyone’s welcome to join us at Crescent Park to cheer on our mighty Comets as they cross the finish line!  It’s a great way to check out the event in case your child(ren) want to get involved next year!

Races start at 3:30 pm (Gr. 3 girls, then boys, on through Gr. 7) and continue until around 4:30 pm.

Final Entertainment Book TURN IN DAY!

We’ll be outside of the school this morning (some place dry I hope) collecting Entertainment Book Turn-In Envelopes.

If you sold the book (or bought it yourself)- simply bring the Turn-In Envelope with your payment.  You’ll receive your coveted Alvin key chain.

If you sold more than 1 book – return your envelope with full payment for all books sold and we’ll issue any additional books needed and your Alvin key chain and any additional prizes you may have earned!

If you do not want the book – simply return the book and we’ll cross your child’s name off our list.

If you returned your payment and/or book at a previous Turn-In Day – Thanks!

Morning Announcements – Soccer, Terry Fox and Sportball

Morning Announcements -

Boys Soccer – there will be a meeting in Mr. Dewar’s room today at 12:15.

Terry Fox Runtoday at 1 pm

We are very fortunate to have a special guest with us this afternoon.  Jessica Alder, a relative of Terry Fox, is going to do a presentation that is sure to inspire us today as we run with the hope of a cure for cancer.

Parents are welcome!  Assembly begins at 1 pm.  Jessica speaks from 1:05 – 1:15.

“Twoonies for Terry” donations are being collected until Wednesday, Sept. 28th.

Sportball is starting at Cambridge!

Morning Announcements – Mixed bag…

Here’s what you need to know today:

Announcements -

Good Morning Cambridge!

Just remember we will be collection donations for Terry until next Wednesday.  Students will visit each classroom to  collect money later this morning.

The run will go ahead tomorrow rain or shine so be prepared with rain jackets, good running shoes and an extra pair of shoes for inside.

Parents – If it’s raining on Friday, check the school website (link on our site) after 11 am.  If the run has been postponed, it will be posted on their website.  I’ll do my best to check and update you as well.

Girls’ Soccer – there will be a girls’ soccer practice today at 2:45 pm.  Please wait quietly at Mr. Lee’s portable.

Hot Lunch Yesterday – A HUGE THANKS out to our Super Volunteer Teena who singlehandedly helped Tammy, our Lunch Lady, and her crew get the lunches delivered to the classrooms!   Teena arrived at the school to help, didn’t see anyone else so she introduced herself to Tammy who showed her the ropes.  In Teena’s words “It was quite simple and didn’t take much time at all.”  WAHOO!!!   Thanks Teena!

Are you bleeding?  It’s the first day of rain and a perfect time to remind your child(ren) that rain is not an emergency.  Wanting to use the phone to call home and ask for drive because they forgot their umbrella is not an emergency.  Time to make a rain plan for your child!  Are they prepared?  Do they have boots, coat, umbrella?  Where will they go to wait for you?  What will they do in the rain?  Knowledge is power…and it will ensure the office isn’t bombarded!  WIN-WIN!

With about 500 parents at the school, that means 20% of our parent population is receiving regular updates!

It’s the perfect time to roll out our SUBSCRIBER REWARDS PROGRAM!!!

At the end of every month, we’ll draw 1 email address from our list of current subscribers!  That person will WIN a $10 gift card to a local business!   If you’re the lucky winner, you’ll receive an email requesting your name and mailing address!   We’ll also ask your permission to post your first name (or family name) on the blog! 

BONUS DRAW – When the school hosts special events, 1 lucky email subscriber will win reserved seating at the event!

Morning Announcements – Girls’ Soccer, Congrats Runners, and Twoonie Time

Here’s what was heard at school this morning:

All Grade 6 and 7 girls who are interested in playing soccer are to meet Mr. Lee in portable #7 today during recess.

Reminder that tomorrow is picture day so look your best!  Bring your photo form to the photographer tomorrow.

Congratulations to all the Cross Country students who ran yesterday.  You all did an awesome job.  Remember – practice for Cross Country is on the grass field during D.P.A.

And a tidbit from yesterday afternoon:

We will be collecting “Twoonies for Terry” beginning Wednesday, Sept. 21st.  The last day to bring money will be Wednesday, Sept. 28th
